i'm slightly confused on these directions. i'm taking an online spanish course, and i came across this paragraph that doesn't make sense to me -- it says formal commands use the "usted" form of the verb, but the example uses the "yo" form. can someone explain?

Every time you talk to an adult, the only way to show respect while talking is to add the "e" example, if you talk to a friend, you would say "habla" which means talk, but if is your professor, you would say "hable" it means the same action, only that by adding the e, you are showing more respect.
