A spinner has six sections of equal shape and size. Each section is either black or white. The table shows the result of an experiment when the spinner was spun 84 times: Result of Spin Black White Number of Spins 14 70

Based on the data, which of the following best describes the experimental probability of the arrow landing on a black or white section of the spinner? The spinner is equally likely to land on black or white. The spinner is 5 times more likely to land on white. The spinner is 5 times more likely to land on black. The information cannot be concluded from the data.

im thinking C.The spinner is 5 times more likely to land on black.

OpenStudy (phi):

if you land on white 70 times and on black 14 times, do you really think it will turn up on black more often ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh no nvm then, no lol

OpenStudy (phi):

A good guess is that 5 of the sections are white and 1 section is black and you have a 1/6 chance of getting black and 5/6 of getting white

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so which one would be the best answer to go with? @phi

OpenStudy (phi):

try to cross of choices that don't sound correct. and it should be more or less clear you have a good chance of getting white rather than black when you do the next spin.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so Im going with B. @phi

OpenStudy (phi):

yes

thank you! :)
