OpenStudy (kaylaprincess):

Let f(x)=3 and g(x)=6x+4. Find f(x)+g(x) Can someone please walk me through this?

Nnesha (nnesha):

add \[\huge\rm \color{ReD}{f(x)} +\color{blue}{g(x)}\] f(x) =3 so replace f(x) by 3 and g(x) by 6x+4 last and f!nal step combine like terms

OpenStudy (kaylaprincess):

so, 3 + 6x + 4

Nnesha (nnesha):

yep right!

OpenStudy (kaylaprincess):

6x + 7 !

OpenStudy (kaylaprincess):

duh i was over thinking this. thank you !

Nnesha (nnesha):

yep right

Nnesha (nnesha):

my pleasure :=)

OpenStudy (kaylaprincess):

may i ask another question? just to check my answer? ( this is for practice, not a text or quiz )

OpenStudy (kaylaprincess):

test *

OpenStudy (kaylaprincess):

@Nnesha

Nnesha (nnesha):

sure

OpenStudy (kaylaprincess):

Let f(x)=−9x+7 and g(x)=x−13. Find f(x)−g(x) I get -10x - 6 what am i doing wrong?

Nnesha (nnesha):

alright okay so there is a negative sign first step is to distribute 2nd parentheses by negative one

OpenStudy (kaylaprincess):

but it's not multiplication?

Nnesha (nnesha):

\[\huge\rm (−9x+7) -(x−13 )\] we need to put parentheses bec of negative sign

Nnesha (nnesha):

so that's why first step is to distribute!

OpenStudy (kaylaprincess):

ohhhhh

OpenStudy (kaylaprincess):

i see i see. thank you ~

Nnesha (nnesha):

np

OpenStudy (kaylaprincess):

for some reason openstudy wont let me ask questions it's weird. did they make a certain number of questions you can ask?

Nnesha (nnesha):

no you can more than 100 questions
