Given: F(x) = 3x2+ 1, G(x) = 2x - 1, H(x) = x F o G =

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

F o G = \(F(~\color{red}{G(x)}~)\) you know: \(F(x) = 3x^2+ 1\) and this way you can say: \(F(\color{red}{G(x)}) = 3(\color{red}{G(x)})^2+ 1~~\) You know what G(x) is equal to, so sub that into your right side: \(F(\color{red}{G(x)}) = 3(\color{red}{2x-1})^2+ 1~~\) \(F~o~G = 3(\color{red}{2x-1})^2+ 1~~\)
