What is the missing side length of an irregular pentagon with side lengths nineteen point nine centimeters, twenty-four point eight centimeters, thirty centimeters and forty-nine point two centimeters, if the perimeter is equal to the perimeter of a regular hexagon with side length twenty-six centimeters?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

19.9cm 24.8cm 30cm 49.2cm and \(x\)cm (\(x\) is the missing side-length) ----------------------------------- Now, the perimiter of this shape is equal to the perimeter of a regular hexagon with side length twenty-six centimeters. Lets find this "perimeter of regular hexagon w/ side length 26 centimeters", hexagon = 6 sides each side is 26, so all sides are 26•6=156 So the perimeter of our initial shape is 156

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Now, all you need to do is to find the missing side. Perimeter = The sum of all of the sides. 156 = 19.9 + 24.8 + 30 + 49.2 + \(x\) And knowing all sides except one, and after we have found the sum, we have to solve for x (x is the missing side).

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Hope this is making sense... if not, then ask....

OpenStudy (cutebunny12):

ok thanks

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

got the answer? what did you get? (just to make sure, if you wish to do so)

OpenStudy (cutebunny12):

ok

OpenStudy (cutebunny12):

i got 6.1
