help please
An appliance company uses the function f(h) = 40h + 120 to calculate the total repair bill, f(h), for h number of hours worked. Find h if f(h) = $200.
The function represents a mathematical expression that models the outcome. Right ? So the parameter that models this function is called 'h' for hours. The function models the Appliance company's repair bill . Since the relationship for the output and the input are equivalent , then we can apply algebra to determine the solution . if F(h) = 200 F(h) = 40*h +120 then 200 Dollars is billed for the repair for 'h' hours of service 200 = 40*h +120 Both statements above are equivalent
soo, it will be 200= 40 x 200 + 120 ?
solving for h, Subtract 200 = 40*h +120 -120 -120 80 = 40*h divide h= 80/40 h= 2
ohh that was easy i over thought it, but thank you. if i need more help i'll tag you !:)
200 represents the amount of money for 'h' hours of service h represents the number of hours serviced the two are distinct ! However the Service bill DEPENDS on hours To be correct in the mathematical language Bill of service or f(h) is the dependent variable and h is the Independent variable
the reason I wrote all this junk down is so that it furthers your understand of a function , how the relationship of the input determines output and identifying what the variable represent ! please try applying this next time
