@empty

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

provide us an equation(s) how DNA folds into chromosomes

OpenStudy (empty):

$$D^2+N^2=A^2$$

OpenStudy (empty):

It's like the Henderson-Hasselmozart equation but less of a hassle

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

for real? laughing out loud

OpenStudy (empty):

noooo lol

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

haha

OpenStudy (empty):

Louis Kaufmann has done some research on this sort of thing actually.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

I was thinking about knots because of the histones, but it is more about folding.

OpenStudy (empty):

Yeah I honestly don't know much past the fact that DNA gets wrapped around histones and histones are like 8 little balls with squiggles coming off them and somehow it can get unwrapped when it needs to be expressed so that the promoters can check it out and unzip it or whatever and cut it with topoisomerase and also reproduce with those two strands into miyazaki fragments and all that jazz

OpenStudy (empty):

after the first "add further scaffold proteins" it all becomes squiggles lolol

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

ya I am like so how do we make out of that shape at least in parts we can model

OpenStudy (empty):

Well when I learned x-ray crystyalography for the lab I worked in I learned how to interpret this picture as being DNA https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b2/Photo_51_x-ray_diffraction_image.jpg
