The cube in the image has a volume of 1,000 cubic feet. The other solid has the same base and height as the cube, but the length of each of its slanted sides is 2 units longer than the height. What is the volume of the tilted solid? 800 cubic feet 1,000 cubic feet 1,200 cubic feet 2,000 cubic feet http://cdn.ple.platoweb.com/PCAP-ASSETS-PROD/5f465a4688084f6baa3eaa20bd3cc5d0

OpenStudy (danjs):

If the Volume for the cube is 1000, then L is the cube root of that or L=10

OpenStudy (danjs):

so that slant length for the parallelpiped shape is L+2 or 12

OpenStudy (danjs):

The front face is a parallelogram, you can find the area of that, them extrude it into 3 space by L to make the volume

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okaaaaayyy, well what would you have put, because i tried 1,200 and got it wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and it's a online test so..

OpenStudy (danjs):

or even easier, you can just use the area of the base, which is the same L by L or 100, then extrude that by L + 2 or 12

OpenStudy (danjs):

so the volume is 10 * 10 * 12
