OpenStudy (anonymous):

A triangle has vertices at (2, 4), (-3, -6), and (4, -2). Find its perimeter rounded to two decimal places.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

use the distance formula for 2 points sqrt [(y2-y1)^2 + (x2-x1)^2 ]

OpenStudy (welshfella):

where the 2 points are (x1,y1) and (x2,y2)

OpenStudy (welshfella):

so for the 2 points (2,4) and (-3,-6) the distance between them is sqrt [(4-(-6))^2 + (2-(-3)^2]

OpenStudy (welshfella):

do the same for the other 2 sides of the triangle and add them all up
