Why does DNA contain Thymine but RNA contains Uracil?

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

@thomaster It's because cytosine in DNA spontaneously converts to Uracil about 130 times per day in every cell in your body, right?

Miracrown (miracrown):

Looking at the differences between DNA and RNA, RNA doesn't need to be kept as stable as DNA does. RNA can be degraded after it has served its purpose but DNA is the main template. This could help us to answer why there is a difference between the two using different nucleotide bases.
