Directions; Find DM. (Not sure how to do it)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (sepeario):

I apologise if I'm sounding really stupid, but isn't DM just equal to MP?

OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

very easy

OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

see...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

noo you don't sound stupid at all! @Sepeario

OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

equate 2x-4=12, you get x. now put it in MP

OpenStudy (sepeario):

The two triangles are congruent - hence the corresponding sides must be equal. If DM=MP what does DM equal?

OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

putting in MP, 3(8)/4. Now you can get the answer

OpenStudy (sepeario):

just saying the two sides are the same aren't they?

OpenStudy (sepeario):

oh right they want you to find it in units.. yes @arindameducationusc is right then :) so sorry

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Wouldn't DM^2 = 15^2 - 12^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the answer is 6? Because the list of options are confusing me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. 6 B. 7.5 C. 9 D. 12

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

get the square root of (225 -144)

OpenStudy (sepeario):

it's not a right angle triangle.

OpenStudy (sepeario):

@wolf1728

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Yes, I stand corrected :-(

OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

Answer is 6, sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you for all the help all of you

OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

My pleasure

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

thanks
