I apologise if I'm sounding really stupid, but isn't DM just equal to MP?

equate 2x-4=12, you get x. now put it in MP
OpenStudy (sepeario):
The two triangles are congruent - hence the corresponding sides must be equal. If DM=MP what does DM equal?
OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):
putting in MP, 3(8)/4. Now you can get the answer
OpenStudy (sepeario):
just saying the two sides are the same aren't they?
OpenStudy (sepeario):
oh right they want you to find it in units.. yes @arindameducationusc is right then :) so sorry
