i have to either do the kennedy and nixon debate or find an argument on New york times

Some of these on the rubric are very simple. For example, the purpose of the speech is pretty obvious, just given the names of Nixon and Kennedy. The intended audience is pretty clear as well, considering the purpose. Speeches are generally 2nd person. Kennedy/Nixon's claim is something you should be able to find on your own, as it's the entire point of the speech/argument. Evidence is pretty clear as well. When it comes to the counterclaim and how it's refuted or weakened, that's actually a rule in MLA essay writing. Basically, you mention the other side's claim in comparison to your own and you say why yours would be better or why theirs isn't as good. The last two bits of the rubric are up to you, as they're completely your opinion
