do you know what a number line is ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have an answer i just wanted someone to check my work i choose the second one

OpenStudy (phi):

a simple line would go 1 2 3 4 where we start with small numbers and the numbers to the right are bigger

OpenStudy (phi):

I assume you know 2 is bigger than 1, right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok now you are just being a jerk

OpenStudy (phi):

the short way to say 2 is bigger than 1 is write 2 > 1 notice the "big" side of > is next to the bigger number we can also write 1 < 2 which says 1 is smaller than 2 the "big" side of < is still next to the 2

OpenStudy (phi):

next, notice which side 2 is compared to 1 1 2 3 2 is on the right side of 1 and 2 > 1

OpenStudy (phi):

compare that to your problem \[ - \frac{3}{5} > -2 \] which of the numbers -3/5 and -2 is bigger ?
