Find the center that eliminates the linear terms in the translation of: 4x^2 - 25y^2 - 8x - 100y - 196= 0. A) (1, 2) B) (-1, 2) C) (1, -2) Can you please explain how to do it, my notes didn't explain how to do these types of problems.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you would get x or y by itself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so how would I do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0+196

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so u get that on the other side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is geometry right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or algebra?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's actually Pre-Cal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wow

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.jiskha.com/display.cgi?id=1269614752

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait ik how to do this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would it be C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 100 with C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh so it's B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol no B i got like -4 hundred and sum

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are those the only choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is the first number for x or y do you know?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's x and y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is so RETARDED

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it will be C because in the equation it ended up being (x-1)^2/75 - (y+2)^2/12 = 1 Which has (1,-2) in it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you got it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can i fan you? :D :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

np

OpenStudy (anonymous):
