HELP WITH VENN DIAGRAM PLEASE EXPLAIN! S^c ∩ T^c WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

actually we are dealing with set intersection... as in what does s^c and t^c have in common that c is another notation for ' which means not so \[ S^c ∩ T^c\] means NOT C and NOT T

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

NOT S and NOT T rather . fast typing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ya I might be wrong on that. UsukiDoll is probably right!

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

last choice is wrong... because that means S AND T not what we're looking for

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So C would be correct since they are not shaded?

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

having NOT S would mean the outside of the S circle same for NOT T . that's outside of the T circle

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

so the box is just shaded.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what if the question were S^c ∩ T

OpenStudy (anonymous):

regular T

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

that would mean NOT S and regular T

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

so regular T gets shaded. anything not involving S gets shaded too but since it's intersection it will just be the circle T. (I'm studying this again this semester)
