Find the mean, and subtract all the values from the mean, then find the mean of that.

For example.

2, 3, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 9

Find the mean.

$\sf \dfrac{2 + 3 + 3 + 4 + 6 + 8 + 9 + 9}{8} \rightarrow 5.5$

Now subtract all the values from it.

$\sf 5.5 - 2 = 3.5$
$\sf 5.5 - 3 = 2.5$
$\sf 5.5 - 3 = 2.5$
$\sf 5.5 - 4 = 1.5$
$\sf 6 - 5.5 = 0.5$
$\sf 8 - 5.5 = 2.5$
$\sf 9 - 5.5 = 3.5$
$\sf 9 - 5.5 = 3.5$

Find the mean of these values.

$\sf \dfrac{3.5 + 2.5 + 2.5 + 1.5 + 0.5 + 2.5 + 3.5 + 3.5}{8} \rightarrow \color{#45D229}{\boxed{2.50}}$
