hi i am new to this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol hi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay well welcome! do you have any math problems you want help with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need some help with geometry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Welcome to Openstudy!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The picture below shows a right-triangle-shaped charging stand for a gaming system: The side face of a charging stand is a right triangle labeled ABC. The measure of angle ACB is 90 degrees and the measure of angle ABC is 60 degrees. The length, BC, of the side adjacent to the angle ABC is 8 inches. Which expression shows the length of side AB? 8 cosec 60° 8 by sin 60 degrees 8 by cos 60 degrees 8 tan 60°

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ask away

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if u need help....just post the questions and people will start to help u..........

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any ideas on what this answer would be? i think the last one, but just a guess

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anyone?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one second let me work it out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so which trig function do you think you will need to use?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@heretohelpalways

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@plzzhelpme

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just need the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay well i wont give you the answer but ill help you out, you need to use the trig function that contains all of the values that you are given and has only one variable (the one ou need to find AB)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

e.g. sin(angle) = opp/hyp cos(angle) = adj/hyp tan(angle) = opp/adj

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what numbers would i use in this problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Jdosio

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 8 the angle 60 and your variable Ab

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so which trig function uses the angle (hint all of them us an angle)adjacent and the hypotenuse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the second choice i think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes cos perfect so now plug in all the values you know into the cos function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8/x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe

OpenStudy (anonymous):

`yep cos(60) = 8/x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which expression shows the length of side AB? 8 cosec 60° 8 by sin 60 degrees 8 by cos 60 degrees 8 tan 60° so out of these it would be C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that how the answer choices are given to you ? in words?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay well anyway solve for x in the equation you found and that should match one of the answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no probelm hope that helped:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it did, thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. 8 cosec 60° B. 8 by sin 60 degrees C. 8 by cos 60 degrees D. 8 tan 60° C WAS CORRECT
