Do you mind telling me what you got for the bottom and top parts of the figure?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just added everything together.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I know that. Then what did you get for each separate thing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Er. Nothing. I just added it all >_<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well you solved the area of a section and then wrote it down and then added it all up together right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did 4+4, then the sum of that +2 then the sum of that + 8 (which is the other 4+4) and the sum of that with 5.75

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you find the area of this? |dw:1438203186061:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not the best at this subject. Lol. :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Area of a triangle is \[\large \sf A~=~ \frac{1}{2} \times Height \times Base\]|dw:1438203298442:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would you times 1/2 though?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\large \sf x \times \frac{1}{2} ~=~ \frac{1x}{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What? >_<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\large \sf 4 \times \frac{1}{2}~=~\frac{1 \times 4}{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh. So it would be 4/2, but thats a improper fraction.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\large \sf \frac{4}{2}~=~2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the answer would be 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The area of the triangle with sides of 2 and 2 is 2, yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So confusing. >_<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you solve for the top section? |dw:1438203756317:dw|
