to find the mean we add up all the given values and divide by the amount of value

for example a sample of 3 student were survey on what how many hours they spend reading a book ...their responses are 8, 10, 3
now to find the mean we add the 3 students response 8+10+3 and that equals 21 ..then we divide the 21 by # of students
21/3=7
so 7 in this example is the mean... hope this helps..
