A box contains several slips pf paper. On each slip is written an even number between 11 and 19 Without looking you draw one slip of paper. Find the sample space for this experiment

OpenStudy (welshfella):

its been a while - look up the definition of sample space i think the answer is {12,14,16,18}

OpenStudy (welshfella):

http://www.mathgoodies.com/lessons/vol6/sample_spaces.html this will help

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

count how many elements there are in the sample space

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

they are trying to trick you so you need to make sure you have the proper listing. it says between 11-19, but the numbers are only an even. \(S= x_1 ... x_n \) where S is your sample space and the x's are your possible outcomes in an experiment (drawing a slip). Without looking you draw and asked to find the SAMPLE SPACE for the experiment. Well let us make sure we know the definition of experiment and SAMPLE SPACE SAMPLE SPACE is a COLLECTION OF elements (the set) of your experiment. EXPERIMENT is any process that generates a set of data. So the two are related, but what you are being asked for is your sample space so we focus on the total set.
