What impact did the caliphs have on the spread of Islam? The caliphs’ rule kept Islam limited to the Arabian Peninsula. The clans’ conflict over the caliphs’ control restricted the growth of Islam. Caliphs came and went too quickly to have any significant impact on Islam. Caliphs were able to spread Islam as far as Europe and India.
