Need help in creating my own poem!! Write a short poem of approximately 10 lines describing an important event (either personal or historical) or an emotional state of mind using rich, connotative language. Then write a reflective journal of approximately 200 words in which you discuss the word choices you made and what effect you wanted to achieve.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Ahhhhhhhh, this shall be fun. ^.^

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

What subject type suits you? I can give you ideas.

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

I don't have any idea I need ur idea

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

which topic would be easier to write it on

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Okay, well I typically write poems of optimism.. Stuff like "After every storm comes a rainbow, And we all know that at the end of a rainbow lies a pot of gold."

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

do you have any poem which u would like to share

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Because I don't have any idea about its structure

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Here's one: At the edge of it all, Many a tear may fall. These dark clouds overwhelm our once clear skies, Have no fear, though- don't be discouraged- for soon after this dark storm, a bright, happy sun will arise. Preceding each storm, a miraculous rainbow enlightens our once dark sky, And onward through a new path of happiness we can now fly. We all know that at the bottom of each rainbow lies an immense treasure, And within this treasure may we find our pleasure.

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

nice one

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Thanks ^.^ I mean, I can make poems out of pretty much anything. xD

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Let's see.. What's your favorite hobbie? Or even your favorite thing to talk about?

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

but don't be have to choose any event

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

what they mean by the historical

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

I think tree and rainbows are not an event thou

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

brb

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Write a short poem of approximately 10 lines describing an important event (either personal or historical) or an emotional state of mind using rich, connotative language. What this is asking is for you to choose an important event that either happened in your own life (such as how it felt to win your first game) or in history (such as how the soldiers feel when at war). Or, alternately, you could write about an emotional state of mind (such as sadness or happiness. What it means by using connotative words is to use words that have a special meaning to you, rather than just simply the dictionary definition of the word.

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

oh ok

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

know that makes a sence

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

So, for instance, if you were to write about sadness, it could go like this: A clear blue sky of which birds fly, A warm, bright sun that brings much fun. Overshadowed by a dark grey cloud as birds come falling from the sky. Here I stand and I watch, as my tears run. Why, why must we all die? We never know when our time is done. What is this sadness that makes me cry? Why has the dark cloud won? This imminent death, this dark cloud, it's all so sly. It's impossible to outrun. I stay here, wasting away as the birds die at the bay. Until my days left reach none.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

(freestyling)

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Ah, the second to last line doesn't work.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Fix: ***as the birds cease to fly***

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Or **** as the birds continue to die**** That's better.

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

ok but do you creat this by ourself

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Yeah, I just freestyled it xD

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

wait what you mean by freestyled

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

I mean that I just made it up just now xD

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

ok lol

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Actually, I am really so bad in the poem stuff

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

What's inspiring to you?

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

but some time I usually playy cricket games on my mobile for fun

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Tell me about how that went.. How it felt

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Its went really good and I win my all the group matches after that my team qualify for the quater final which was against west indians

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

From there my team easily won by 10 wickets and then the qualify for the semi final

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

but unfortunately my team lose that match because of some poor batting

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

That's still pretty awesome! You could write a poem about that!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Whitemonsterbunny17 Your poems are incredibly swimmingly awesome

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Awe, thank you! @Robert136

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I miss my high school English class lol those poetic devises ring my bell

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

know how it felt: As you know my team lose in the semi final from that I got disappointed by my team and then I never play that game before!!

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Yeah, I never really had to do much poetry in high school, but it was always a treat. You can still make poems, though!

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

@Whitemonsterbunny17 how was it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Intermingling of the analytical mind and language is untoppable.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Well, even though your team lost, you can still write a poem about it, you can use all the emotion you felt throughout it.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Very true, Robert.

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

@Whitemonsterbunny17 how??

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Easily. There are so many options.. You could write about the matches your team won, how it felt to play against the other team.. if it was intimidating or exciting, you can write about the feel of the adrenaline Or you could write about how it felt when your team lost..

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

but how am I goona discribe it

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

any example plz

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Hrmmm... Just a shot here... I was next to bat, so I walked forward anxiously, Fearfully yet fearlessly, And I confidently swung the bat, and bamn! ............... Continue

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

You could write about the pressure you felt Or about how it felt to see the other team standing in front of you Intimidation or confidence Fearfulness or fearlessness Write about the memorable moments

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Memorable feelings

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

See, what you need is to pack it with emotion, and you can easily get a poem.

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

ok I try my best to complete it

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Did my suggestions help at all?

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

yes a lot

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sometimes poem requires your shining imagination. Try to be outside of your thinking box. For instance instead of using the language by means of literal communication try to draw and let it transcend to your mind with your subconscimous. Let ot flow along with your thoughts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sometimes let your honesty take over the common sense. Leave the literal conventions behind. Weave your pieces with utmost of your instinct.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

^ Exactly, that was very well said. I don't think I could have said it any better.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Poem can be used in normal writing ehXD Sometimes poems are melodramatic so they border on imaginative writing and literary jargon. One needs to be cautious
