It would seem we have reached an impasse in this discussion if no one will agree on the most basic of issues. Which phrase provides the best clue to the meaning of impasse?

I think it'd be "no one will agree" because impasse means "a situation in which no progress is possible, especially because of disagreement; a deadlock. What do you think?
