Two car washers, Michelle and Nancy, are working on your car. Michelle can complete the work in 6 hours, while Nancy can complete the work in 3 hours. How many hours does the car washing take if they work together? 3 2 six eighths four thirds

someone please help me . i really need to get this done soon

OpenStudy (anonymous):

none whatsoever

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well actually im thinking its 6/8 but idk

OpenStudy (kropot72):

In one hour Michelle, working alone, can complete 1/6 of the work. In one hour Nancy, working alone, can complete 1/3 of the work. Therefore if they work together for one hour they can complete 1/6 + 1/3 =1/2 of the work. Can you now see how many hours they would take to do the job when working together?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is it 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@kropot72

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Yes, 2 hours is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you can you possibly help me with another?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

You're welcome. I'll try to help.
