Yes from the sun :) Light energy from the sun is converted into chemical energy (by synthesising chemical compounds) in plants during the process of photosynthesis. Plants are producers. So 10% of the energy in plants is transferred to animals that consume them, i.e. herbivores. The latter are consumed by other organisms and acquire energy by eating them.
