Hello, I need someone to check my work and tell me what I did wrong please. I am in 8th grade for the 3rd time in a row starting this school year and I have been issued to do 6th grade math since that is the subject I am falling hard on, everything else I am good with. I will post a picture in the area below
The right answer is on the calculator, but I did not come up with that answer. I was very close though. I counted 5 for the decimal placement and I do not know where the 0 at the ends goes. I'd be very thankful if someone could explain to me what steps I missed or did wrong.
I'll help you hold on.
Thank you =)
So whats the problem?
The problem is What is the product of 8.0425 × 2.6? 2.09105 20.9105 209.105 2091.05
20.9105...Would you like me to explain how?
Yes please. I know I either messed up a step or missed one, I was so close to the right answer.
80425 * 2.6 Right?..... You need to place them in the right place value first.
@SleepyNotSafe You did both steps of the multiplication, and the addition correctly. The only mistake you made was placing the decimal point.
Thanks
@mathstudent55
@mathstudent55 I figured that was it. I learned that you count the number of spaces, so in this case 8.0425 = 4 spaces, 2.6 = 1 space. So I'd move the decimal 5 spaces over in the problem, that's how I got 2.091050
Wait wait wait, hold on. I dropped the 0 because I thought you had to do that, that's how I got my answer I believe
@SleepyNot Safe This is what you have before placing the decimal point. |dw:1438643953849:dw|
