My answer: 795 m^2, 822m^2. Is that correct?

2.) Find the surface area of the cylinder to the nearest whole number. The figure is not drawn to scale.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my answer: 2,205 in^3. Is that correct?

@mathstudent55 can you stay? There has been many incidents where people have left.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 If he leaves, please stay

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

For the first triangular prism you are correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright. Thank you.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

For the cylinder you are correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you, again. Can one of you stay for just one more to correct?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I'm getting the same LSA = 3*37+9*37+9.49*37 = 795.13 TSA = BA + LSA = 2*(9*3/2) + 795.13 = 822.13

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

But for cylinder, remember the units are in.^2. You are dealing with an area, not a volume.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 can you stay

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, thank you.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I agree with your cylinder answer too 2*pi*13^2+2*pi*13*14 = 2,205.39804282003

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Next question. Use Euler's formula to find the missing number. vertices:15 edges:24 faces:? My answer: 11. Is that correct?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

V + F - E = 2

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes, you use V - E + F = 2 to find that F = 11

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

15 + F - 24 = 2 F - 9 = 2 F = 11 Correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay. Thank you guys again. : )

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yw

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

You're welcome.
