Will fan and medal Can you help me Make a Cause and Effect chart showing how the Spanish American War launched the United States into an imperialistic world power. I already have two i need two more

OpenStudy (mbma526):

1:Cause: The US has been waiting for the appropriate moment to intervene in Cuba to seize new territories outside of their country,When we realized that cuban insurgents were close to defeat the spaniards they intervened in the war to snatch the victory from the Cubans and try to keep Cuba. Effect: The Cubans did not allow to be ruled by the USA and therefore, The USA were forced to grant them their independence, but with the Platt amendment, that allowed them to intervene in Cuba whenever they wanted. 2: Cause:The inference of the media was a cause they were spreading rumors about the war and what was going on. Effect: People all over the world were being told lies that were not true about the war.

@AaronAndyson can you please give me one more.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We suddenly became way more imperialistic (i.e. greedy) during and after the Spanish-American war. We suddenly grabbed (from Spain): The Philippines, Puerto Rico, Guam. From there, we carved our own piece out of China for ourselves and we forced Japan to open its ports to our exports. We bought Alaska and annexed Hawaii too. Native Hawaiians are STILL pissed about that last one by the way (if you ask "how could they be angry...? its a resort now!" then you haven't considered that although that sounds good to you, it does not mean that it sounds great to them). By the way, the Spanish were considered to be a "world power" but their empire had been in decline for many years by the time we went to war with them. If you suddenly defeat a "world power" by yourself without help from _anyone_ (this excludes the American Revolution, Vietnam etc etc) then that makes you a world power too. The fact that we were hungry for overseas land meant that we were now imperialistic as well.

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

Main cause. William Randolph Hearst. Main effect: America took over Phillipines, and the Germans mistakenly made the assumption that Americans were militarily incompetent.

Thank you so much @AaronAndyson @http_yash
