OpenStudy (hellokitty17):

09.06 Option 1 This is an independent project. You are going to write a fairy tale! Your story should include all of the standard elements of fairy tales. •Begins “Once upon a time … ” •Animals can act like humans. •Involves magical items or helpers. •Ends “ … happily ever after.” Your story must also fully cover these math concepts. This is an educational fairy tale … the best kind! •Create a quadratic function with two real zeros. •Solve a system of non-linear equations with a graph. •Solve a system of non-linear equations with a table. •Compare linear, quadratic, and exponential growth functions using a table and a graph. Submit the graph and table. •Identify that exponential functions exceed linear and quadratic functions. You may present your fairy tale as a document, a slideshow presentation, a comic book, a video, or other medium. Any steps or work must be shown.

oregonduck (oregonduck):

we need to add this: Solve a system of non-linear equations with a graph. •Compare linear, quadratic, and exponential growth functions using a table and a graph. •Identify that exponential functions exceed linear and quadratic functions. to this: Once Upon a time there was a Unicorn named Zelda. Zelda lives in a magical forest with trees that produce numbers, variables, and operators rather than fruit. With her friend Unicorn Barbie, together they decided to see what they could make with these elements. Unicorn Zelda snagged an x, a minus sign, and a 4 and made x - 4. Unicorn Barbie made y + 2. Out of curiosity, they decided to see what would happen if they multiplied them all together. (x - 4)(y - 2) = 8

OpenStudy (hellokitty17):

yes we do

OpenStudy (hellokitty17):

please can you help us

oregonduck (oregonduck):

can you help us finish

OpenStudy (hellokitty17):

he are almost done if you could help us

oregonduck (oregonduck):

first of all we already have done half of it and second of all we want help on how to add those things on to our story THAT WE ALREADY HAVE.

OpenStudy (hellokitty17):

yes

oregonduck (oregonduck):

SO GO GET ALIFE AND NEXT TIME READ THOUGH THE WHOLE QUESTION AND SEE WHAT WE NEED HELP WITH NOT JUST GO AND START ASSUMING WHAT PEOPLE ARE ASKING!!!!!!!

oregonduck (oregonduck):

we are not children. we are teenagers and i am smarter than you most likely because i have skipped 3 years in my life i am a freshman in collage now

oregonduck (oregonduck):

i have skipped 3 years of school HOW ABOUT YOU HAVE YOU GOTTEN HELD BACK 3 YEARS OR WHAT?!?!?

oregonduck (oregonduck):

I AM NOT DOING HER WORK I AM JUST HELPING HER GET PEOPLE TO ANSWER AND FYI I AM A HONERS AND STRAIGHT A'S STUDENT

oregonduck (oregonduck):

I TOOK AP CLASSES ALL MY YEARS OF HIGH SCHOOL

OpenStudy (hellokitty17):

YES HE IS AND NOT A SPECIAL NEEDS PERSON LIKE YOU

OpenStudy (hellokitty17):

HELP US PEPS

OpenStudy (hellokitty17):

@poopsiedoodle

OpenStudy (hellokitty17):

phi

oregonduck (oregonduck):

@phi plz help

OpenStudy (phi):

how far did you get ?

oregonduck (oregonduck):

we need to add this: Solve a system of non-linear equations with a graph.

OpenStudy (phi):

what part of the question does your story try to answer?

oregonduck (oregonduck):

well this is the assignment: You are going to write a fairy tale!

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, I saw that. But what part of the question does your story try to answer?

oregonduck (oregonduck):

idk we are need help on examples on how to add this to our story Solve a system of non-linear equations with a graph. •Compare linear, quadratic, and exponential growth functions using a table and a graph. •Identify that exponential functions exceed linear and quadratic functions.

OpenStudy (phi):

your story could answer Create a quadratic function with two real zeros. if you use "x" instead of y in the 2nd expression then multiply them and set the result to zero. (that would make the expression have two real roots)

OpenStudy (phi):

for this part Solve a system of non-linear equations with a graph. non-linear equations could represent a circle or parabola (linear equations represent straight lines) a "system of non-linear equations" would be two shapes that intersect and solving would be finding the points of intersection

oregonduck (oregonduck):

our story does not need to answer anything though we just need to Solve a system of non-linear equations with a graph. •Compare linear, quadratic, and exponential growth functions using a table and a graph. •Identify that exponential functions exceed linear and quadratic functions. in our story

oregonduck (oregonduck):

@kropot72

OpenStudy (phi):

here is a graph that shows two non-linear equations

oregonduck (oregonduck):

no we need a graph solving this: (x - 4)(y - 2) fyi the answer is 8

OpenStudy (hellokitty17):

@phi

OpenStudy (hellokitty17):

@phi help plz @Hero

OpenStudy (phi):

(x - 4)(y - 2)=8 is the graph of a hyperbola you will need another equation that intersects this curve and where they intersect will be the solution

OpenStudy (phi):

it looks like this

oregonduck (oregonduck):

i am going to post the graph i found

oregonduck (oregonduck):

ok

OpenStudy (phi):

if you add a circle to your story, you can create this graph which has two nice solutions.

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

Dont mean to spam but what do you mean by "US"

OpenStudy (hellokitty17):

me and @OregonDuck

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

I see.... did @phi satisfy your need of help?

oregonduck (oregonduck):

This is the graph I found

oregonduck (oregonduck):

Yes

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

Because he's a great user and a master in math ^-^

OpenStudy (phi):

that is in 3D (too complicated for your problem) I posted the 2D hyperbola up above.

oregonduck (oregonduck):

ok

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

@phi I'll be roaming around if u need a helping hand just pm me

OpenStudy (hellokitty17):

@phi
