please help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you need

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\let x=R^2 and d \infty : XxX---> R on X define by d \infty(X,Y)=MAX lei \le2|\Xi,Yi| for all X=(x1-x2), Y=(y1-y2). obbtain d \infty(X,Y) if X=(-1,2) and Y=(3,-4)

OpenStudy (misty1212):

HI lets see if we can translate this somehow

OpenStudy (misty1212):

\[d_{\infty}(X,Y)=\text{max} \] of something what is the something

OpenStudy (misty1212):

guess we will never know

OpenStudy (loser66):

\(d_\infty: X\times X\rightarrow \mathbb R\\(x,y)\mapsto max\{length1, length2 | (x_i,y_i)\in X, x=(x_1-x_2), y=(y-1-y_2)\}\) I think, if x =(-1,2) then length x = |-1-2|=3 y = (3,-4), then length y =|3-(-4) |= 7 hence \(d_\infty (x,y) = max \{3,7\} = 7\)
