Does anyone know if Os is thinking about adding in a section where you can go to look at textbooks that help you practice work during the summer so you don't forget what you already learned? I believe that could be a huge improvement to OpenStudy.

pooja195 (pooja195):

I think thats what google is for :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know but my phone doesn't allow me to access google sometimes so i use OpenStudy but it hard to get what you need from people on here when your confused as well, its just a suggestion really. @pooja195

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And google isn't always reliable either..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mostly for textbooks anyway.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My question was do you know if they are? @pooja195

pooja195 (pooja195):

i dont think so.....sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok thank you anyway.

Making a textbook is no small task. Doing it wrong is disasterous. So asking OS to hire people to do a proper textbooks is a bit of a stretch. There are quality, free, online textbooks out there. Why not use one of those. Then, any questions on the content you can ask on OS. For example, OpenStax College makes a number of good books. Pooja can attest to how good the biology one is. But she still asked questions here about biology.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

short answer no, however i have been thinking about adding some school textbooks to my extension to reference... \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @e.mccormick Making a textbook is no small task. (such as k12 books) and reference them... which is what ive been planning to do for a while x'D infact i had a dream about successfully doing that... man the dreams i have >_>

Thank you ^ i was asking if they were considering it and you answered my question. @Jaynator495

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

k12 uses their own login system to look at thier books, which would make it harder to include in OS.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Or CK-12, rather. Their whole flexbook thing is tied into that. http://www.ck12.org

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nice ^ @e.mccormick

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

And here are the OpenStax books: https://www.openstaxcollege.org/students They are excellent books that go through the full peer review process. They are trying to make general educatio books for free and have covered most of the widely used topics.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

i go to k12 x'D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would be easier for me and most of other people on here to actually "study" on here in the summer because i'm on here literally everyday.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

I am taking about CK-12, which does free books... as opposed to K-12, which has books for their students. I do not think K-12 opens theirs to the world.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

KAKES1967, they have looked at doing question banks and tutorials a number of times. Never quite got off the ground.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Tutorials is definetely needed in OS.
