Which part of an email identified who offered the address

"test" is going to be the one who sent you the email !
".com" is the extension.
If they are asking the person who offered the address it should be the server.
gmail.com is the server DOMAIN NAME ! What offers the address is JUST THE SERVER! 
So what do you think the answer would be ?

I'm not sure what you mean.

He asks what part of an email IDENTIFY who offered the address. When you ask someone for a email typically you mean their email address.

The domain name points to the server. Its like a address to a house.
Isn't it right to just say the domain name(address). How can you just say the server(house).

So lets say the question he asked was for a quiz or test.

The server.

Do you expect him to put the server. Or the domain name gmail.com.
