Line CD passes through points C(1, 3) and D(4, –3). If the equation of the line is written in slope-intercept form, y = mx + b, what is the value of b? –5 –2 1 5

OpenStudy (teddyiswatshecallsme):

First you calculate the slope. which is y2 - y1 OVER x2 - x1 which would be -3 - 3 divided by 4-1 which equals 2, thats your (M) value, in slope intercept form which is y = mx + b now you plug in the values for x and y in the equation which would give you 3 = 2(4) + b now you multiply 2 and 4 which gives you 8 then you subtract 8 from both sides because its positive and that gives you -5 = b
