Can someone help me?
An expression is shown below: 3(m + 5 + 9m) Part A: Write two expressions that are equivalent to the given expression. Part B: Show that one of your expressions in Part A is equivalent to the given expression using algebraic properties. Explain which properties you used. Part C: Show that your other expression from Part A is equivalent to the given expression by substituting a number for m.
What test is this?
its not a test
For the first part, distribute the 3. That gives you one equivalent expression.
To get a second equivalent expression, add m+9m. That gives you a second equivalent expression.
what do you mean by distribute?
3(x+4)=3x+12
I distributed the 3
15+30m
@Mertsj
3(m+5+9m)=3m+15+27m You don't have to combine the like terms according to the directions.
ok
For the second part, explain that you used the distributive property like this: 3(m+5+9m)=3(m)+3(5)+3(9m)
For the third part pick a number like 2 and use the original expression and your other expression from part 2 and replace m with 2 in both expressions and show that you get the same answer for both.
@Mertsj so my two equivalent expressions are 15+30m and 3m+15+27m
When you distribute the 3 you get 3m+15+27m That's one of the equivalent expressions.
When you add m +9m you get 3(5+10m) That's the other equivalent expression
oh ok
BTW~ thank you so much @Mertsj
