I would have to also agree that in this case the best answer is B. However, the scientific method is not at all linear, it is actually cyclic as the steps are:

1. Develop a hypothesis
2. Perform Controlled Experiment
3. Analyze Results
4. Formulate Conclusion
5. REPEAT!!!!

Repeating your study is how we gain confidence that our results are true. In many cases scientists repeat each others experiments to further confirm that the results are true. Unfortunately this question is somewhat poorly written, and B is probably the most correct answer because:
