each amendment affects americans and its participation in the government. Way are like in the first amendment the government can't make Christianity the national religion because it will go against the first amendment. every amendment is like an almost permanent law and we as citizens must follow them in order to stay out of trouble. hope this helps. to medal someone just hit best response which will be lovely for me by the way. =)

Since the question specifically asks about citizens' participation in government, take the amendments that affect voting rights for example. In voting, Americans are participating in the democratic process to elect government officials - the 15th amendment extended this right to vote (and ultimately have a say in how the country is ran) to african american men, and then the 19th amendment further extended this right to women. The 26th amendment lowered the minimum age to vote from 21 years to 18 years old, which was intended to allow the 18, 19, and 20 year olds who fought for our country in wars to be able to participate in the government as well. The founding fathers intended the government to be controlled by its people, and these amendments intend to maintain that control by ensuring all citizens the right to participate in it.
