I Will Medal And Fan Best Answer! I need explantion AND answer! 40 over 6 in simplest form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you looking for a fraction as your solution, or with a remainder?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

fraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. So, first. List the factors of each number. Find the most common one. 40 : 1,2,4,5,8,10,20,40 6 : 1,2,3,6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first common one*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 but we ignore 1 so 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still don't get how that tells me anytthing without the rest of the explanation @izuru

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm willing to help you if you're willing to calculate some things. Anyway, so 2 is the GFC. Now, divide both the numerator and the denominator by 2. 40÷2=? 6÷2=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me find a calculator, cas this is what i was trying to avoid division. brb

OpenStudy (anonymous):

20 and 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the site i'm on says 20/3 is wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you're looking for another answer, 20/3 cannot be simplified any further than it can be as a fraction. 6 can't go into 40 equally, it has a remainder. 6 can go into 40, 6 times, with a remainder of 4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well aleks sys thats wrong too so im giving up cas math is stupid and its not like i'll remember it
