The answer is, just as chmvijay said, "the identification of and analysis of substances". This includes Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis, with quantitative being closely related to the "quality control" in the description. The first Chemistry definition there was supposed to be Physical Chemistry, the third is Biochemistry, and the fourth is Inorganic Chemistry.
