A rectangle has sides measuring (4x + 5) units and (3x + 10) units. Part A: What is the expression that represents the area of the rectangle? Show your work to receive full credit. Part B: What are the degree and classification of the expression obtained in Part A? Part C: How does Part A demonstrate the closure property for polynomials?
Part A: Expand the product (4x+5)(3x+10) and get the expression: (4x+5)(3x+10) = 4x* (3x + 10) + 5*(3x + 10) = 4x*3x + 4x*10 + 5*3x + 5*10 = 12x^2 + 40x + 15x + 50 = 12x^2 + 55x + 50 Part B: It is 2nd degree trinomial. Part C: It shows that it is closure property, because it is a polynomial multiplied by polynomial and it equals a polynomial. That is basically the closure property.
@hartnn
good work! everything looks fine :)
" A: area = length x width = (4x + 5)(3x + 10) = 12x^2 + 55x + 50 B: the degree is 2, making it a quadratic expression C: I think they mean the product of two polynomials is a polynomial. " i thought that Might help you.
thank you guys srry lost internet connect for the 50th time today geesh! May you help with one more and then i will stip bugging you ?
