The earth has a magnetic north and south. How does this help up with evidence to support the theory of Continental Drift?

When magma cools, the minerals in the rock are aligned with the direction of the current magnetic field. Rock layers that were formed in the past were magnetized in a direction that does not align with the current magnetic field, which can support the idea that the poles wandered, as proposed in the Continental Drift Theory
