I am not really sure what the question is asking

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe @LynFran could help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or @pooja195

pooja195 (pooja195):

Well there are 8 kittens and 6 puppies so just multiply 6 x 8=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry its 48

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought you are supposed to add because if i do it will give me 14

pooja195 (pooja195):

With combinations you need to multiply

OpenStudy (phi):

if you are choosing just 1 pet, and you have 8 kittens and 6 puppies, that is 14 choices. if you were choosing 1 dog and 1 kitten, then you would have 6*8= 48 choices. this question says "1 pet" , so 14 choices.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So i was correct

OpenStudy (phi):

there is some ambiguity... if we assume there is no difference between the puppies and kittens, then there is only 2 choices: either a dog or a cat. But I would go with 14 and argue the puppies are different (and also the kittens)
