The mean of 100 numerical observations is 47.8. What is the value of the sum of all 100 numbers?

Not sure this is the right section, but you find the mean, or average, by finding the sum and dividing by however many numbers you added. So for this problem... \[\frac{ n_{1}+n_{2}+...n_{100}}{ 100 }=47.8\] Since you only want to know the sum, not the individual numbers added, you just have to solve for the numerator.
