A bag has 4 green pencils and 8 blue pencils. If someone reaches into the bag and randomly removes 2 pencils, what is the probability that both are not green ?PLZ HELP !!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P is(1- (8/12))*(1-(7/11))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont understand nick123457

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@nick1234567

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because pro of not happing is 1-prob and then fill in the prob= P(blue penci) for both times

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay well the prob of getting a blue pencil is 8/12 correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are 12 pencils in total should I subtract 2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are the options?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah the probability of getting a blue is 8/12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What should I do now ? @nick1234567

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for the first pencil the prob of not getting green is (8/12) correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so take that * the prob of not getting blue or getting green (same thing) the next time which is 7/11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 8/12 * 7/11 =answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Kk thank u so much I really appreciate it :) @ nick1234567

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anytime glad i could help!!!
