The following data set shows the number of books checked out from a library during the first two weeks of the month: 36, 39, 40, 42, 45, 2, 38, 41, 37, 38, 35, 37, 35, 38 Which of the following statements is true based on the data set? There is one outlier, indicating very few books were rented out on that day. There are two outliers, indicating very few books were rented out on those two days. There is one outlier, indicating an abnormally large number of books were rented out on that day. There are two outliers, indicating an abnormally large number of books were rented out on thos

OpenStudy (kropot72):

The value 2 is obviously an outlier. However both of the choices for one outlier state ".........books were rented out on that day." However the data relates to "......the number of books checked out from a library during the first two weeks of the month". Therefore there does not seem to be a correct choice, the reason being the data relates to a two week period, not to a particular day.

Well there is an answer though ^ @kropot72

OpenStudy (kropot72):

When I look at the question again, " that day" relates to the day relating to the outlier value 2. Therefore the first of the choices is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the top 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there can only be one answer..

@peachpi

OpenStudy (kropot72):

"There is one outlier, indicating very few books were rented out on that day." is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you sure?

OpenStudy (kropot72):
