OpenStudy (misty1212):

HI!!

OpenStudy (misty1212):

guess we have to work in ounces right?

OpenStudy (misty1212):

how many ounces in a quart?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

convert quart to ounces

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to get 32 ounces

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops 5% of 32 not 6%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so find 5% of 32

OpenStudy (anonymous):

by doing 0.05*32

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Something like that Misty, its confusing to me..

OpenStudy (misty1212):

this i am afraid is not quite right

OpenStudy (misty1212):

you are not looking for 5% of 32

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u know how to solve it..?

OpenStudy (misty1212):

yes

OpenStudy (misty1212):

give me sec i will be right back

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, thank you!

OpenStudy (misty1212):

ok lets call the amount of bleach used say \(x\)

OpenStudy (misty1212):

and the amount of water or whatever is \(32-x\) since the total is \(32\)

OpenStudy (misty1212):

then the amount of bleach in the total mixture is \(x\) and you want that to be \(5\%\) of \(32\) which is \(32\times .05=1.6\)

OpenStudy (misty1212):

ok i was wrong, @heretohelpalways was correct

OpenStudy (misty1212):

use \(1.6\) ounces of bleach, the rest \(32-1.6\) of water or whatever

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, u at least made it less confusing. thank u for explaining it tho misty!
