the idea is to draw a line through all of the points (as best as you can) if the points all fall on the line, you have perfect correlation i.e. 1 as you can see, you can't draw a line through your points.

OpenStudy (phi):

there is a complicated algorithm to compute the correlation but based on the dots being all over the place I would go with a small number (correlations are between -1 and 1)
