I AM CONFUSED PLEASE HELP!!!! How do i work a box method for polynomials!! Please give an example!!! WILL MEDAL AND FAN!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for factoring?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Polynomials.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I honestly don't know i am confused.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can write the steps but i wanna know how to work it. Using the box method, you write the first polynomial down the side of the box with each term in a row of its own and the second polynomial across the top with each term in a column of its own. Then, multiply each row and column, and fill in the result in the corresponding empty box. Finally, combine like terms to simplify.

Oh ok. so it looks like you're multiplying on factoring. Let's try (3x -1) and (2x + 5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So we write 3x - 1 across the top and 2x + 5 down the side, keeping the sign with the constant.|dw:1439319159558:dw|
