OpenStudy (mitu12):

Sara has some oranges. She sold 40% more than she ate. If she sold 70 oranges, how many did she eat? 25 50 75 100 None of the above.

OpenStudy (teddyiswatshecallsme):

It's very simple 100% = how much she ate 140% = how much she sold 140% = 70 oranges To find 1%, you divide 140% by 140 to find 1%. To keep the equation equal, you divide 70 by 140 as well 140%/ 140 = 1% 70/ 140 = 0.5 oranges = 1% To find 100% you multiply 1% by 100. 1% x 100 = 100% 0.5 x 100 = 50 It's quite simple actually, you just have to find out what 1% is. And then you multiply 1% by 100 to find 100% or the original value etc.
