i think The American colonists strongly opposed the tax laws imposed by the British Government. Following the Seven Years' War or the French and Indian War, the British Crown imposed large taxes on the American Colonies on things like sugar, paper, tea, and other goods. As a result of these taxes the colonists became angry over their requirement to pay taxes, but their lack of a voice in regards to their political representation. These helped to foment conflict and led to the start of the American Revolution.
