Perpendicular lines have opposite reciprocal slopes. What's the slope of y = 7x + 2?

OpenStudy (heyitslizzy13):

so the slope would be -1/7?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. and then point slope form of the equation is \[y-y_1=m(x-x_1)\] So you just have to plug in the slope for m and the given point for \((x_1,y_1)\)

OpenStudy (heyitslizzy13):

ohh okay, thank you (:

you're welcome
